STOCK is an e-journal - phase one in a CAST initiative designed to give a voice to Tasmanian artists, writers, curators and all of those in between.

STOCK will comprise of two parts: an e-journal, attached to the CAST web site, and a more formal hardcopy version to be published once a year. There are few avenues for arts writers in Tasmania and STOCK aims to address this by encouraging, not only those who might consider themselves arts writers, but curators (budding or otherwise) and artists who want to have their say in written form.

STOCK’s primary purpose is to encourage a conversational continuity of ideas between exhibitions and among artist’s practices. Acknowledging that we share a common legacy of artistic process, technically and conceptually,

STOCK aims to support writing that develops from a direct response to art practise in Tasmania and will offer much needed feedback for local artists. All submissions will be subject to an editorial process in order to maintain a coherent and relevant connection to current exhibitions and related issues.
